A web-spinning mite: (2009)

The below images were taken mid-June through mid-July

Another year of black tip, but this time upon a reintroduction from tissue culture.  Should be fun!  It started back in May, of course.  One plant, this one, wasn't treated as well as others and I knew the mites were around.  I did actually get to see one crawling around under the microscope but was not able to get an image of it.

Leaves with damage.

Tip already going.

Another view, same day.

Some of the gooey parts before they dried up.

Leaves showing mite damage right before a treatment which did remove them.

Notice bud push occurring.

Another view same day.

Mismo.

Same.

Mismo again but the tip, now really starting to dry out.

The plant had to be treated more than once and may indicate either the decay of product used (it precipitates out of the concentrated solution even before it can be made up) or they are now immune to that product.  Further observations are ongoing to discern "what's up".  The below pics were taken in a radial fashion in order to demonstrate the number of buds which have pushed.  Only a few months will tell now many truly have but right now it appears that either tissue cultured plants interact differently with the mites or these mites this year are doing special things.
